Mayor Appoints Barry Hurst as Ward 1 Councilperson

2/10/2016

Long Time Resident Appointed to Council

Following the unexpected retirement of Marcia Starkey Morgan, the long time Councilperson for Ward 1, the Mayor conducted an open application and interview process for the vacant position.  That search resulted in the Mayor recommending to City Council the approval of Barry Hurst.  The Council, after interviewing Mr. Hurst, recommended and approved the Mayor's appointment at the February 9, 2016 Committee of the Whole and Council Meetings.  The passage of Mr. Hurst's appointment (Resolution 04-2016) provides that Mr. Hurst will serve out the remainder of Ms. Starkey's unexpired term which runs through December 31, 2020.

Mr. Hurst is a 24 year resident of the City of Richmond Heights and has been active organizer, leader and participant of the City's amateur sports scene.  He is a graduate of Wright State University and currently holds a position with the Ohio Lottery Commission as a Sales Representative.  Mr. Hurst and wife, Maria, have been married 25 years. They are parents of sons Anthony, and Michael.

Please join us in welcoming Mr. Hurst to Council.
