Building Department
The Building and Zoning Department is responsible for the administration and enforcement of building and zoning laws. Many of the improvements to your property such as concrete repair, fencing, decks, sheds, reroofing and siding require a permit to insure such ordinances are complied with and safety regulations are met.

Richmond Heights is a chartered city with a Mayor/Council form of government. Council is comprised of the Council President, two Councilpersons-at-Large and four Ward Councilpersons.

Fire Department
The Richmond Heights Division of Fire is a full service professional organization committed to reducing the risks to life and property in our community. In 2021, Richmond Heights firefighters and EMS personnel responded to 2,374 calls for service. These calls cover a wide range of situations from helping someone who has fallen to raging structure fires. The Division of Fire adheres to the core value of customer service by equitably serving those who live, work, and play in Richmond Heights. Through safety, training, and preparedness, our firefighters strive to educate the community about fire and life safety skills for everyday life.
